The Boomers performed at The Reserve of Lake Ridge on 10/2 and the show went extremely well. We video taped the action and will be releasing a promo video ASAP. Dennis was electrifying as he sang “I’m So Fat” in his plaid shorts and over stuffed shirt. Joe G managed to get through the night without forgetting too many lyrics. Unfortunately the same can be said for Joey La and Guy but who cares? We all had fun! After we did our finale “Everyday” everybody was on their fee clapping and having a good ole time. We weren’t sure if it was a real standing ovation, people just wanted to get the hell out of there because the band was too loud or they just needed to go to the bathroom. In any event, it was a standing O and we’ll take it any way we can get it!
Had a great boomer moment this morning. I took my son to cub scout camp this morning. When I got there I realized that I was at the nature camp that I took him to last week. We were only 10 min. late to cub scouts. If I only had a brain!
The guys were over my house one day tippin a few coldies on my front porch. My neighbor drove by in his new Benz and Bobby said “What’s the deal with that guy? How did he make all his money?” I tried to explain it to him but Dennis cut me off, started dancing and broke into this song! It was like a cross between a freaky Fellini movie and a Fred Astaire flick! Luckily Guy had his 8 track recorder going and we were able to capture the audio. I decided to add some images and preserve the whole unsavory story on video.
We got a really nice write up in the Trenton Times by Sharon Schlegel. Check it out!
Thanks Sharon!
Well it’s official. Our record is no longer just a fancy coaster. You can actually buy them for yourself and play them on your CD player! If you’re coming to McLoone’s on Sunday, you have time to memorize the words and help us out in the likely event that we forget the lyrics. So go to CD Baby immediately and buy your copy to help save some aging musicians from total embarrassment.
I just posted this on FaceBook and I thought I’d rant a little bit here as well. Maybe I’m an old geezer but I really do not like user names. I would much rather converse with a person when I know who it is that I am speaking to. It’s very annoying to try to figure out who it is that you are speaking to or watch some one spew rot behind the cowardly shield of a user name. Whenever I am asked to choose a user name I always use my real name. Wish others would as well. How about you?
We don’t think we’ll ever retire. With the economy in the toilet and being self employed musicians, it doesn’t look too good. I remember doing a gig in AC about 20 years ago and watching this old guitar player struggle to walk out of a casino while schleping his axe. I thought, that will never be me. Ha ha good one. That will be me in 10 years! It least I like my job:~) How about you?
